About the Marathon
Warm greetings from Save and Heal Uganda! We are delighted to invite all people of Uganda, especially the great people of the Kigezi Region, to join us in the upcoming 2026 Kabale Wisdom Marathon, set for August 1, 2026, at the charming Kabale Municipal Stadium. This year’s theme, “Run Miles of Love for Our Elders,” reflects our heartfelt commitment to supporting our cherished seniors.
The Kabale Wisdom Marathon isn’t just a race—it’s a vibrant community effort dedicated to gathering resources, raising awareness, and inspiring collective action to enhance the lives of vulnerable older adults in the beautiful Kigezi region. We aim to bring together local leaders, organisations, development partners, security agencies, businesses, and community members in a united stride to care for and uphold the dignity of our elders.
Our main goals are to:
- Gather funds to bolster elderly care programs that focus on health, welfare, and respect for seniors throughout Kabale and Kigezi.
- Improve access to healthcare through community health camps, screenings, and referrals for elders dealing with chronic illnesses and age-related issues.
- Fight social isolation and neglect by encouraging community involvement, psychosocial support, and fostering intergenerational bonds.
Enhance living conditions for vulnerable seniors with specialised interventions, including housing support and essential welfare services. - Advocate for stronger recognition and safeguarding of elderly rights, motivating individuals, organisations, and governments to actively participate in elderly care.
- Promote healthy living, community wellness, and active participation through sports and physical activities, all while supporting a meaningful social cause.
💡 Why We Run
Our seniors are the pillars of our community, yet many face neglect, isolation, and unmanaged health conditions. The Kabale Wisdom Marathon brings together local leaders, organizations, security agencies, businesses, and citizens to raise critical resources and build a stronger support system for vulnerable older adults in the Kigezi region.
